Cancun is more than just a destination; it’s a place where dreams meet reality. With its breathtaking beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and vibrant culture, Cancun has earned its reputation as one of the world’s most sought-after vacation s...

Tulum's ruins are out of this world!

The Yucatán Peninsula is one of my favorite places to visit—it’s got stunning beaches, incredible history, and some of the best all-inclusive resorts in the world. But after traveling there myself (and planning trips for my clients!), I’ve learned some key tips that can make or break your experience. If you’re thinking about a trip, I can help you navigate all the details, from picking the right resort to booking the best excursions. Here’s what I’ve learned firsthand!

1. Picking the Right All-Inclusive Resort Is Everything

The first time I went to Cancun, I quickly realized that not all all-inclusive resorts are created equal. Some are perfect for couples looking for a quiet retreat, while others are packed with families and non-stop activities. If you want a true luxury experience, you need to pay attention to what’s included—some resorts limit premium drinks, have hidden fees for certain restaurants, or don’t have beach access at all (yes, really!).

How I Can Help: I’ve personally experienced the difference between resorts, so I can match you with the perfect one for your travel style—whether you want relaxation, adventure, or something in between.

2. Skip the Crowds at the Ruins—Go Here Instead!

Most people immediately think of Chichén Itzá when planning a trip to Mexico, but let me tell you… it gets packed with tourists. Instead, I recommend visiting a different set of ruins that still offer incredible history but with way fewer people. I once visited an alternative site where I was able to climb the ruins and take in a breathtaking view of the jungle—something you definitely can’t do at Chichén Itzá anymore!

How I Can Help: If you book with me, I can recommend the best ruins based on your interests and arrange a private or small-group tour so you can explore without the crowds

3. Getting Around: What You Need to Know

Transportation can be tricky in the Yucatán. Some areas have rideshare services, but in other places, you’ll need to rely on taxis or private transfers. I’ve learned that:

  • Resort taxis are safe but expensive—you can often negotiate the price before getting in.

  • Private transfers are worth it if you’re traveling from the airport to your resort—no waiting in long lines.

  • Renting a car is great for exploring but can come with extra fees you weren’t expecting.

How I Can Help: I can arrange private airport transfers and recommend the best transportation options so you don’t have to worry about getting from place to place

4. Currency & Payments: What Works Best

  • Pesos vs. U.S. Dollars – I’ve found that while many tourist areas accept U.S. dollars, you almost always get a better deal by paying in pesos. I always recommend exchanging money before you go or withdrawing pesos from a bank ATM once you arrive.

  • Credit Cards – Most resorts and major restaurants take cards, but small shops and local markets are cash-only. Make sure to bring a card with no foreign transaction fees!

How I Can Help: I’ll give you a breakdown of the best ways to pay based on where you’re staying and what you plan to do.

5. Water & Food Safety: What’s Safe to Eat & Drink?

  •  Water: Stick to bottled water! Even at resorts, I always play it safe and avoid drinking tap water. Most places use purified water for ice, but if you’re out at a small local spot, it’s worth double-checking.

  • Street Food: If you want to try authentic Mexican food (which you absolutely should!), go for spots that are busy with locals. I’ve had some of the best tacos at tiny roadside stands—but only the ones where you can tell they have a steady flow of customers.

How I Can Help: I’ll give you personalized dining recommendations so you can enjoy amazing food safely!
