The Netherlands, with its iconic windmills, tulip fields, and picturesque canals, was my home for many years. The Netherlands has a delightful blend of rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes.

Birthday Girl in Cozumel

My wife, who was the full-time care giver to her elderly live-in father. needed a break from it. Her brother was able to take over for a few days and I found a 5 day getaway on 'Celebrity Summit' which matched with her XX birthday :)...

After a number of cruises on RCCL and CCL, we were ready for a new experience.

Even though we had been to the ports on the itinerary prior, it did not matter. Changes in flight times ended up almost costing us our embarkation time, but we made it nonetheless.

The overall atmosphere, we found right away, a lot more pleasant than previously. A bit more subdued and subtle. Elegance throughout the ship and no loud parties around every corner.

Very adequate state-room, with balcony on the Aqua level. We found later that the extra upgrade was well worth it with access to the exclusive 'Blue' restaurants and the included concierge service.

As we both like to work out, we found the gym quite nicely equipped, except that the WIFI to which some of the equipment could have connected, did not really do the trick. My wife said she loved the SPA services and felt they were the best of any ship we'd been on.

Our favorite hangout quickly became the 'Martini-Bar', with it's acrobatic bartenders and fantastic drinks. Very entertaining, yet not overly so.

The movie area in the aft of the pool-deck was a another great place to chill and watch a movie (or simply take a nap, lol). The incredibly large buffet in the aft of the ship served 3 meals a day and was quite busy. The food was excellent despite the enormous quantities served.

As we had been to the ports-of-call in the past we only went ashore for a little souvenir shopping in Cozumel and Nassau and did not leave the ship otherwise.

The ship is much quieter than any of the ships we had sailed on in the past. No loud music by the pool or crazy games. No conga lines at midnight. No drunken brawls in the nightclub.

Adult behavior for an adult crowd. Excellent entertainment for when you want it. Outstanding service at every level, from arrival on the ship to dining, bar, room and any other staff.

We decided that our next cruise would very likely be on another Celebrity ship.
