I'm delighted to share my story with you, especially if you're ready to embark on an enchanting journey through the captivating landscapes of New Zealand. My travel od...

Wolgan Valley Villa with the Wallabies.

Upon landing in Sydney, Australia bright and early we were picked up by private car and driver and taken to the Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains of New South Whales, Australia on our way to One and Only Wolgan Valley Resort. The Three Sisters are unusual rock formation on the north escarpment of the Jamison Valley. They are close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' best-known sites, towering above the Jamison Valley. They are called the blue mountains due to the haze that hovers over them from the densely populated forests of oil-bearing Eucalyptus trees. There was a great visitors centre that had lots of information about the area, toilets, and a gift shop with some small snacks. There are few things I always try and do while in Australia and that is have a meat pie, a Tim Tam cookie and have some type of Asian Influenced food. What better way to start my trip then a meat pie and a view of the Three Sisters all before 10:30am.  It's only day one and I feel truly spoiled doing my job today. My villa seems almost bigger than my house with my own person pool. My king bed is luxurious and the telescope from the library offers a spectacular view of the entire Wolgan Valley. I spent the afternoon on a 4WD drive tour spotting native animals such as kangaroo’s, wallabies, koalas, and wombats. I am determined to see a platypus before I leave.  We then took the Wildlife and Sundowners Tour to watch the sun begin its descent on the horizon, casting a golden color across the sandstone escarpments. The field guides popped open wine and set out a variety of cheeses, meats, dried fruits, and nuts while we toasted the day's adventures. With a glass of wine in hand, I listened to the sounds of the native birds, watched the wild kangaroos hopping across the grasslands and took a moment to allow all my senses to process what the last 12 hours had offered me. Tonight, I will sleep like a princess. Day two and it was another full day of learning all about the Wolgan Valley and its history. We went for a nature walk in the crisp air exploring the bush grasslands and the pristine creeks where I spotted a platypus. Next, we took a historical tour to learn about the original homestead and all the challenges the early settlers faced. Soon it was time for a light lunch followed by a visit to the spa for a massage. After feeling so relaxed it was hard to not just crawl up in a ball and take in nature's beauty but with only a few days here I needed to see as much as I could. Each villa comes with bicycles, so we took a short bike ride on the property followed by a dip in our pool. Tonight, we were served a degustation dinner in the Wolgan Dining Room showcasing fresh ingredients that are sourced on property or in the region. Despite my stomach feeling so full there was one more thing I needed to do, the Nocturnal Wildlife Spotting Tour. We departed in a special 4WD that had large spotlights and we were each provided night vision goggles. We stopped to see Possums, wombats, Wallabies, and owls. The tour was about 90 minutes which was enough time for my dinner to settle and I was off for another good night’s sleep. Day three started with an amazing breakfast. I choose the homemade muesli (Australian Granola) with fresh fruits and local honey. There were so many different types of breads I tried a few with different local made jams.  I also had a few slices of bacon. Australian bacon is so delicious.  With just an hour or so before it was time to leave, I took a short walk and went back to the villa to pack before my trip back to the city (Sydney). One and Only Resort Wolgan Valley is a very special place, and I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to have a true Australian luxury bush experience.  It is a fantastic way to start a vacation after a 14-hour flight from the States.
