I have been in the travel industry for 9 years and am very knowledgeable in planning tropical all-inclusive vacations. The Caribbean nation is a major tourist destination. This, coupled with free-trade zones, has become the country's major employer and key source of revenue, replacing dependence on sugar, coffee, and other exports. The Dominican Republic, occupying the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, is the 2nd largest country in the Caribbean. One of my favorite destinations in the Dominican Republic is Punta Cana. The coffee is amazing and the beaches are beautiful.

The all-inclusive features Dominican cuisine. The cuisine is predominantly Spanish, Taíno, and African in origin. Typical cuisine is like what can be found in other Latin American countries. Most menus for breakfast will include one breakfast dish consisting of eggs and mangú (mashed, boiled plantain). Heartier versions of mangú are accompanied by deep-fried meat (Dominican salami, typically), cheese, or both. Lunch, generally the largest and most important meal of the day, usually consists of rice, meat, beans, and salad. "La Bandera" (literally "The Flag") is the most popular lunch dish; it consists of meat and red beans on white rice. Sancocho is a stew often made with seven varieties of meat.
