Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach
Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach

Oregon is a state of stunning natural beauty and vibrant cities, offering diverse experiences that appeal to all kinds of travelers. From the dramatic coastlines of the Pacific Northwest to the lush greenery of the Willamette Valley, Oregon is a destination full of natural wonders, culinary delights, and adventure.

Explore Oregon’s Stunning Coastline - The Oregon Coast is a must-visit for anyone craving breathtaking views, sandy beaches, and unique sea stacks that rise majestically from the ocean. Towns like Cannon Beach and Newport are popular spots to relax, explore coastal tide pools, and enjoy fresh seafood. Whale watching is also a big draw, especially during migration season. Don’t miss Haystack Rock, a natural wonder and iconic landmark that’s home to colorful seabirds and marine life. There are many small, beautiful coastal towns that I love exploring. One of my favorite towns is Astoria, with delightful architecture and for those 80s kids like me it was the filming location for The Goonies, and Short Circuit.

Discover Portland’s Vibrant Culture - Portland, Oregon’s largest city, is known for its quirky, eco-friendly vibe and thriving arts scene. With a food cart culture and a dedication to local flavors, the city has become a culinary hub with something for every taste. Visit the famous Powell’s Books, the largest independent bookstore in the world, or spend an afternoon at the beautiful Japanese Garden. Craft breweries and coffee shops line the streets, and no trip to Portland is complete without a stop at Voodoo Doughnut. Portland is also home to a few of my favorite cocktail bars.

Embrace Outdoor Adventure in Central Oregon - For outdoor enthusiasts, Central Oregon offers everything from skiing on Mount Bachelor to hiking in the stunning Cascade Mountains. Bend, a popular destination in this region, is an adventure hotspot where you can go mountain biking, kayaking, or even lava tube caving. Smith Rock State Park, famous for its rugged cliffs, is a mecca for rock climbers and photographers alike.

Experience the Natural Wonders of Crater Lake - One of Oregon’s crown jewels, Crater Lake National Park, is an awe-inspiring sight. Formed by a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States and is famous for its deep blue color. The park offers scenic drives, boat tours, and plenty of hiking opportunities. In winter, visitors can try snowshoeing and cross-country skiing for a unique way to explore the snow-covered landscape.  Crater Lake was one I loved checking off of my bucket list.

Savor Oregon Wine Country - Oregon’s Willamette Valley is a wine lover’s paradise, particularly known for its world-class Pinot Noir. Just a short drive from Portland, the valley’s rolling hills are dotted with charming vineyards and tasting rooms. Many wineries offer tours, tastings, and stunning views that make for a perfect day trip or weekend getaway. Along with wine, the region is home to a flourishing farm-to-table dining scene, where you can sample fresh, local ingredients.

Discover Eastern Oregon’s Wild West Charm - Eastern Oregon offers a completely different experience, with high desert landscapes, ghost towns, and charming small towns that feel like stepping back in time. Hells Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North America, is an ideal spot for hiking, fishing, and white-water rafting. The town of Pendleton is famous for its annual rodeo, the Pendleton Round-Up, as well as its rich Native American heritage and Wild West history.

Oregon is a destination where every corner reveals something new, from its bustling cities and scenic coastline to its mountain landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Whether you’re looking to sip wine in the sun, hike scenic trails, or discover unique cultural experiences, Oregon offers a travel experience that’s as diverse as it is unforgettable.
