Welcome to Peru, a land of ancient civilizations, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant cultures. Whether you're exploring the bustling city of Lima, navigating the historical streets of Cusco, or standing in awe before the majestic wonder of Machu Picchu, your journey through Peru promises to be an unforgettable adventure. Here's a guide to some of the must-do activities in these iconic Peruvian destinations:

LIMA

Historic Center of Lima

Begin your exploration in the heart of the capital. Wander through the UNESCO-listed Historic Center of Lima, where colonial architecture, lively plazas, and historic churches such as the San Francisco Monastery await.

Miraflores and Barranco Districts

Immerse yourself in the trendy neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco. Stroll along the Malecón boardwalk, explore art galleries, and indulge in the local culinary scene at the many restaurants overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Larco Museum

Dive into Peru's pre-Columbian history at the Larco Museum. This museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts, including ceramics, textiles, and gold and silver pieces, providing a comprehensive overview of the country's ancient cultures.

CUSCO

Explore the Inca Capital

Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, boasts a rich cultural heritage. Roam the cobbled streets of the city center, visit the Plaza de Armas, and marvel at the blend of Inca and Spanish architecture.

Sacsayhuamán Fortress

Discover the impressive ruins of Sacsayhuamán, a fortress on the outskirts of Cusco. The massive stone walls (built without mortar) and panoramic views of the city make this site a must-visit.

Sacred Valley

Embark on a journey to the Sacred Valley, where ancient Inca terraces and villages showcase the region's agricultural and architectural prowess. Visit Pisac Market and Ollantaytambo, soaking in the local culture and history.

Maras Salt Mines and Moray Terraces

Marvel at the intricacies of the Maras Salt Mines and the circular agricultural terraces of Moray. These ancient sites highlight the ingenuity of Inca engineering and agriculture.

MACHU PICCHU

Machu Picchu

No visit to Peru is complete without experiencing the wonder of Machu Picchu. Take a train or trek along the Inca Trail to reach this iconic citadel, perched on a mountain ridge. Explore the ancient ruins, marvel at the breathtaking scenery, and soak in the mystique of this UNESCO World Heritage site.

Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain Hike

For an added adventure, consider hiking Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for panoramic views of the archaeological site and surrounding landscapes.

Aguas Calientes

Unwind in the charming town of Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu. Relax in natural hot springs, shop for local crafts, and savor Peruvian cuisine in preparation for or after your visit to the ancient citadel.

General Tips:

Try Peruvian Cuisine

Indulge in the diverse flavors of Peruvian cuisine. Don't miss ceviche, lomo saltado, and the iconic Peruvian dish, cuy (guinea pig), if you're feeling adventurous.

Altitude Considerations

Be mindful of the high altitudes in Cusco and Machu Picchu. Take it easy, stay hydrated, and acclimatize gradually to prevent altitude sickness. Many hotels offer oxygen tanks to help you acclimate.

Local Markets

Explore local markets in each destination. Lima's Surquillo Market and Cusco's San Pedro Market are vibrant hubs where you can sample local produce, crafts, and experience daily life.

Peru's rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty ensures a journey that will leave you with indelible memories. Enjoy your time exploring this enchanting country!

The Doorways of Peru and Machu Picchu Too

My journey to Peru started as a spiritual journey with 20 people from my local Unity church in Chicago. It was led by a wonderful woman named Vera, originally from Brazil. Our itinerary included flying from Chicago to Lima. We settled in there and visited Huaca Pucllana, the pre-Inca pyramid complex,...Read more.

Fantastic first trip to South America!
My month long trip to Rio de Janeiro, Iguazu Falls, and Buenos Aires was an amazing trip of a lifetime. From the start Brian helped with airlines and provided multiple choices for places to stay. All the hotels I selected from Brian’s suggestions were in great locations and worked out perfectly. Brian also provided a list of things to do at each location and recommended tours. Before I left on the trip Brian provided a summary of my itinerary with all the airlines, hotels, suggested tours and things to do. I used this throughout the trip and easily booked tours I wanted to take by just clicking on the links provided. This made my day to day planning easy and I could just enjoy each day. Thank you Brian for all the help in planning this great trip!

San Diego Trip
We went to San Diego and it was great weather. Brian picked a nice hotel for us. He gave us ideas of things to do like Coronado Island and Seal Beach. We hiked and/or drove up Mt. Helix and Mt. Soledad where we could get great views of the area. We saw an old Spanish mission which was cool. And he gave us awesome food recommendations. Thanks for all of the suggestions. It was a great trip. I'd highly recommend Brian's service and expertise to anyone!

Great short trip!
I wanted to visit Central America for a short 4 or 5 day trip just to get out a little during the winter. Brian suggested Antigua, Guatemala. He booked a nonstop from Chicago to Guatemala City and I had a hotel shuttle pick me up and take me to Antigua. Great city, great culture and history. I hiked a volcano, hiked the mountain that overlooks Antigua, and enjoyed the food and bars. It was the perfect getaway for the winter blues I was feeling.

Fun in the Desert Sun!
I have never been to Palm Springs, but I know Brian has been and I asked him to help me plan a trip there for me and my partner. We stayed at a lovely hotel with a unique vibe. Brian was able to give us restaurant recommendations and suggested many places to visit off the beaten path. He told me he likes to explore places of interest by car and that is what we had in mind. So he helped us rent a car and went to 1000 Palms, Whitewater Preserve, Joshua Tree (of course), Pioneertown, The Living Desert Zoo, and took a drive around the San Jacinto mountains to Idyllwild. We are looking forward to going back and exploring more unique places. Thanks, Brian!

Amazing trip to Latin America
I was in search of finding a travel agent that could help me book a multi-destination solo trip to Latin America. While I initially considered planning it myself, someone encouraged me to work with a travel agent and I stumbled upon Brian's profile and ended up working with him. He helped me diligently plan the trip to three different countries. I wouldn't have been able to effectively do it without his services nor was I aware of where to go. Overall, I was very satisfied with the services Brian provided and will use him again for future travel!
