There is also a lot to see and do in Idaho outside of Boise! Here are some of the top attractions in other parts of the state: - Craters of the Moon National Monument: This unique national monument is located in central Idaho and is full of lava flows, cinder cones, and other volcanic features. It's a great place to explore and learn about geology! - Hells Canyon: Hells Canyon is the deepest gorge in North America and is located in eastern Idaho. It's a popular spot for hiking, camping, fishing, and rafting. - Sawtooth National Forest: This beautiful forest covers over two million acres in central Idaho and features mountains, rivers, lakes, forests, and meadows. There are endless opportunities for recreation here! - Salmon River: The Salmon River runs through central Idaho and is a popular spot for whitewater rafting and kayaking. The river has some of the biggest rapids in the country! - Sun Valley: Sun Valley is a world-famous ski resort located in central Idaho. The resort offers great skiing and snowboarding opportunities, as well as lodging, dining, and shopping. Wildlife Spotting and Outdoor Activities If you love spending time outdoors, Idaho is the perfect destination. From hiking and biking to fishing and camping, there are endless opportunities to explore the state's natural beauty. And, of course, no visit to Idaho would be complete without wildlife spotting. There are plenty of ways to get up close and personal with Idaho's wildlife. For starters, head to the Boise River Greenbelt, a 25-mile stretch of parkland that winds through the city. Along the way, you'll spot all sorts of birds and other animals. If you're lucky, you might even see a beaver or two! For a more immersive experience, consider taking a guided tour through one of Idaho's national parks or forests. These tours offer the chance to see some of the state's most iconic wildlife, including bighorn sheep, elk, and moose. You can also learn about the state's history and ecology from your knowledgeable guide. Dining Options for Every Taste When it comes to dining, Idaho restaurants offer delicious, if not delectable, cuisine. You can savor the menus in upscale restaurants as well as farm-to-table fare and down-home comfort food. You'll find it all here. And with so many great places to eat, you'll have no trouble finding a spot to suit your mood and budget. Also, you’ll find plenty of dining options that serve local fish. One of the great eateries in the state is the Blue Boar Inn in Midway. No matter what kind of food you're in the mood for, you'll find plenty of great options in Boise and beyond! Cultural Hotspots for Arts & History Lovers If you love art and history, Boise is the perfect place for you. The capital city of Idaho is home to a number of cultural hotspots that will appeal to your interests. For example, the Boise Art Museum is one of the best places to start exploring the city's arts scene. The museum features a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, focusing on both local and regional artists. You can also find a number of sculptures and public art installations around the city, including the "First Amendment Monument" in front of the Idaho State Capitol Building. For history lovers, Boise is full of fascinating stories and sites. The Old Idaho Penitentiary is a must-see for anyone interested in the state's past. The former prison is now a museum that tells the stories of the inmates who were once held there. You can also explore the Basque Block, which is home to a number of restaurants and businesses owned by members of Boise's large Basque community. Shopping Highlights There are plenty of shopping highlights to be found in and around Boise, Idaho. For the outdoorsy types, there's no better place to stock up on gear than at REI. This outdoor retailer has everything you need for a day hike or a week-long camping trip, and the knowledgeable staff can help you find just the right accessories and clothing for your needs. If you're looking for something a little more unique, head to downtown Boise's 8th Street Marketplace. This open-air market is home to a variety of local businesses, including several art galleries, boutiques, and specialty food shops. Take some time to explore all the 8th Street Marketplace has to offer - you're sure to find something special! This Saturday market is open from mid-April to mid-December. It’s a great opportunity to experience the local landscape and what it offers. No matter what kind of shopping you’re doing, you'll find it in Boise. From big box stores to one-of-a-kind shops, the city has you covered. With its stunning natural beauty, diverse outdoor activities and rich cultural heritage, Idaho is an amazing place to explore. Great Trip to ABQ & the scenic Enchanted Circ
Trenton was great! He handled our recent stay in Albuquerque & we had an amazing time in Old Town. Then we took a scenic drive on the Enchanted Circle from Santa Fe, Taos, Angel Fire & Eagles Nest up to Raton.
