When it comes to choosing a travel destination in Brazil, the options are endless. From its bustling metropolises and idyllic beaches to its Amazon rainforest and natural reserves, there is something for everyone in this exciting country. Known for its famous Carnival celebration, Brazil features both traditional architecture and cultural attractions galore. As your travel agent advisor to Brazil, I can promise you that you’ll love every moment of the time you spend here. If you’re looking to escape the cold winter months, then a trip to Brazil is the perfect solution! The country experiences warm weather all year round, with average temperatures sitting around 28°C. Transpose the numbers to get the average Fahrenheit reading of 82 degrees.  The high season for travel is December through March. During this warmer and festive time, minimum stays are scheduled, usually for four nights. If you want to escape the doldrums of a northern-hemisphere winter, this is a grand time to get away. The shoulder season for travelers falls between April and October. This is the best time to go if you wish to plan a beach vacation. Considering that the country has over 2,000 beaches, you’ll find planning a trip to be dizzying if not exciting. During this time of year, you’ll find the weather dry and warm along the shore and somewhat chilly in the south. The prices are mid-range, while travel costs shoot up during the Easter holiday. I suggest traveling to the Amazon rainforest during the low season, from May to September. Aside from the month of July, which is school holiday time, the prices for accommodations are lower-priced. You’ll find the time from July to September a good period to plan a visit to the Pantanal or the Amazon area. The Pantanal is the largest wetland region in the world. If you’d like to begin the New Year in high gear, I suggest taking a trip in January. Key events include Sommerfest, and Lavagem do Bonfim. This festive occasion takes place in Bahia, and is the second largest festival after Brazil’s Carnival. First started in 1754, the festival is marked by the gathering of thousands of people during the second Thursday in January. At 10:00 am, the participants meet in front of the church, Igreja Conceição da Praia, dressed in completely white clothing.  They walk about 8K to the Senhor do Bonfim church to perform a purification ritual. At this location, they pour scented water on the seating in the church and people’s heads, signifying hope and faith - to the sound of African chants. Attendees get to feast on acaraje, a bean dumpling, filled with vatapa, made of coconut milk, shrimp, and peanuts and fried in dende oil. If your travels lead you to Brazil in February, you’ll get to experience the excitement of the country’s Carnaval festivities. Needless to say, you need to plan your trip well in advance.  Should you travel in March, you’ll love taking part in Sao Paulo’s “Restaurant Week.” This is a great time for foodies to make travel plans. If you plan to travel after Carnaval, in April, you’ll notice the prices are more affordable. This is because it rains more and the crowds dissipate. However, if you travel to Minas Gerais, you can take part in Holy Week activities.  May is a peaceful time for tourists, as cooler temperatures, especially in the south, arrive and heavy rains prevail in the Amazon.  Winter takes place in June through August. While tourism drops off during the period, you will find it a good time to visit the fresh wetland of the Pantanal. To get around in Brazil, you’ll need my assistance, as traffic is heavy in some spots, so its helps to plan your route accordingly.  Also, make sure you pack insect repellent and sunscreen. Remember, the country is tropical, so these items are must-have accessories.  You might also want to learn some basic words and greetings in Portuguese. Although English is spoken, knowing some Portuguese will make things more interesting. I know you’ll love the Brazilian cities. While Rio de Janeiro is known for its Carnival festivities, Salvador has a notable African influence. Sao Paolo is both cosmopolitan and exciting. If you want to arrange the perfect vacation, my suggestion is to plan a visit to Brazil. Let me serve as your travel agent and advisor. I love to travel but hate doing the research and making the arrangements. Gave Marilisa a brief list of what we were looking for and she planned us the perfect trip to Europe! Highly recommend!
