Alaska Travel Agent Expert

My job as an Alaska travel agent professional is personally and professionally rewarding, as Alaska is a true traveler’s dream. If you’re seeking adventure or an escape to the great outdoors, Alaska will not disappoint. One of my favorite Alaskan excursions spans south toward Valdez from Fairbanks or west from Anchorage. If you want to take a scenic route, this is the path to take,as you will see Alaska in all of its natural glory. When you’re about 15 miles from Valdez, the road climbs abruptly. At this point you’re above the tree line and the terrain turns into snow. This dramatic transformation takes place in under 10 minutes - such an unexpected sight makes you want to know what iis in store next. During the next 20 minutes, the road starts descending to sea level, wending through earth-tone canyons, which seem to fade behind the road and its rocks. Upon entering Valdez, you’ll see snow-adorned trees, inviting you to the city’s peaceful harbor.  You’ll pass ice and glaciers, canyons, pine forests, water, and mountains. The tarmacked roads are broad enough for you to stop and take photos with every corner offering a new vista and view. Another Alaskan adventure you’ll love is the scenic journey, by ferry, between historic Skagway and Juenau, which is the state’s capital. The Marine Highway System serves as a vital link between Alaska's coastal settlements and the rest of the state.  A journey like this is impossible to forget since you're always surrounded by gorgeous scenery. You'll pass through deep fjords and by islands featuring lighthouses and sleepy fishing villages - all reminiscent of another time. When leaving Skagway, you are flanked by mountains on three of four sides. If you want to get the most out of your trip, choose one of the older, slower boats. The voyage takes about twice as long on the older ships (three hours on faster boats).  During the sailing trip, you will view humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions, and even bald eagles from the ship's deck. A good time to go is from May to June. On this route, you will see one of the most beautiful sunsets in your life.. The three mountain ranges in front of each other illuminate colors  from a variety of perspectives. As the hues fade the sky turns orange, reddish, purple, and blue. You can also take a gold rush trip or ride the White Pass and Yukon Railroad from Skagway. Float plane trips to Admiralty Island, one of Alaska's best bear viewing locations, are available, as are other treks in and around Juneau.  Since you're always surrounded by gorgeous scenery, it's impossible to forget any of these journeys.  Another unique place is the town of Sitka - home to a totem pole trail. Situated on Baranof Island, the small  but historically significant settlement known as Sitka can be found on Alaska's southeast coast. The town, once known as New Archangel, was declared the capital of Russian America in 1808 and retains a significant Russian colonial influence.Visit St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral, which was Alaska's oldest church until a fire destroyed it in the mid-19th century. Some of the ancient materials were used to rebuild the cathedral, particularly the church’s cross-topped  tower. It seems to be a very ordinary building from the outside, with its white-painted timber façade situated next to a busy road. However, the interior of the structure is very stunning, with a plethora of complex paintings and murals. Vladimir Borovikovsky painted Our Lady of Sitka and Christ Pantocrator, both of which may be seen in the original edifice. (“Pantrocrator” refers to Christ as being the ruler of the universe.) Also on display are charred religious sculptures and other artifacts that were saved from the blaze. On your travels in Alaska, you can  also visit local bars and eateries and watch the comings and goings of the patrons. You know you’re in a place that is separate from the mainstream, a special place, home to grizzly bears, to icy fjords, and fishing adventures - a place you’ll be glad you added to your bucket list.Let me make a trip to Alaska possible. Give me a call today so we can start planning your special northern holiday.

My travel agent Susan
Susan Talbot is not just an excellent travel agent, she is also a wonderful, caring person. She cares about
her clients.
I have had many trips with Susan; from Hawaii to Paris, France to Barbados. All were handled with care
and professionalism. Her clients are important to her. That has been my experience as proven when my
husband took ill and had to be hospitalized in Hawaii. Susan was there to put us in touch with the right
people and followed through with all the arrangements even a&er we were home.
I never had to fret over any details of any trip. Susan took care of it all – personally and professionally.
You will have a great experience when working with Susan
