If you’re reading this, it’s likely because you’ve never been to California before. Or maybe you haven’t been back in a while and you want to give the state another shot. Whatever your travel reason, I want to assist you as your Orange County travel agent advisor. There are plenty of outdoor activities at your disposal from hiking to biking and kayaking or jet skiing at the lake. Close to Los Angeles, Orange County offers several attractions that are well worth the travel time.

Exploring Huntington City Beach

Huntington City Beach is one of four cities that make up Orange County (OC). Otherwise known as “Surf City USA,” Huntington Beach is one impressive OC attraction. You can surf some amazing waves or play a game of beach volleyball. If you’re a beach lover, this is the place to be. You’ll also love viewing the sunset from this popular California shoreline. Take a walk down the pier for a memorable sunset experience.

Visiting  Mickey and Minnie

The “Happiest Place on Earth,” or Disneyland is also part of Orange County. If you’re seeking a family adventure, this is one place you don’t want to miss. Make a splash at Splash Mountain, or take part in a Star Tours. Taking a break from the hustle-and-bustle of life is well worth it when you can escape to the Magic Kingdom.

Hiking the El Moro Canyon Loop

If you love to hike, you’re in for a treat in Orange County. El Moro Canyon Loop, which is close to Laguna Beach, is fairly easy to trek and about 5 miles in length. Besides hiking, you can also horseback ride on the well-worn path. If you choose to hike, I recommend a solid and comfortable pair of hiking boots. Also, check the weather forecast before you go to ensure you’re safeguarded from the elements. If you visit during the summer and spring, you’ll be rewarded with lovely wildflowers and spectacular views of the blue ocean.  If anyone dares to tell you to “take a hike,” make sure you head toward El Moro Canyon Loop. Besides El Moro Canyon Loop, there are many places to explore in Orange County, California that are great for “taking a hike.” Parks in the locale feature hiking trails in the nearby mountains. You’ll also love combing the shores for shells or relaxing and enjoying the ocean breeze.

Visiting the Museums and Gardens

If you love art, you can find plenty of museums that will meet your interests in this respect. Or if you like horticulture, check out the county’s botanical gardens and parks. Museums and gardens feature free admission on certain days of the week, which allows you to save money for souvenirs of your trip.

Checking Out the Bars and Club

If you’re seeking nightlife entertainment, you can find it in Orange County. Whether you’re looking for a rock bar or a more relaxed lounge, there are plenty of places in and near Orange County that offer a variety of night time  options. Most bars around Orange County offer discounted or free entrance on certain days of the week. Anyone looking for fun or adventure can find plenty of things to do on their own or with their kids in Orange County. There’s no shortage of memorable travel attractions to check out in this beautiful state. From the rolling hills of Napa Valley to the sun-soaked vineyards of Sonoma, there's a lot to love about California’s wine country.  So, it does not matter if you’re a seasoned oenophile or just getting started on your wine journey, there's a perfect place open for exploration. Let’s look at some of the regions you’ll want to add to your travel plans. Napa Valley: Although it's only 30 miles long and 5 miles wide, the Napa Valley is one of the most world-renowned wine regions on the planet. With over 400 wineries to choose from, Napa has something for everyone. Just north of San Francisco, Napa Valley also features local gourmet food - food that you can discover easily at the city of Napa’s Oxbow Public Market. You can also take the Napa Valley Wine train - a vintage locomotive with a restaurant.  You’ll also want to visit Yountville, which sits northwest of Napa - a town that is famous for its sparkling wines and high-end eateries. Founded in 1850, Napa County comprises an area of just under 790 square miles. Sonoma: Just north of Napa Valley, Sonoma is a bit more relaxed and laid-back than its southern neighbor.  The historic city of Sonoma features art galleries and the colonial built Sonoma Plaza. Nineteenth-century adobe architecture surrounds the square, including the Sonoma Barracks (used, at one time, by the Mexican military) and Mission San Francisco Solano. The plaza hosts a weekly farmer’s market at certain times of the year. Mendocino: Mendocino is one of California's lesser-known wine regions, but that doesn't mean it's any less special. This beautiful region is known for its cool climate wines, like Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The California coastal community of Mendocino is known for cliffside trails and its shores in Headlands State Park. The park also features a local history museum and visitor’s center, both of which are located in the Ford House, built in the nineteenth century.  If you’re an art lover, you’ll also want to visit the galleries featured in the Mendocino Art Center. Other attractions of note are the area’s Russian Gulch State Park and the Point Cabrillo Light Station, built in 1909. So, if you’re seeking a breathtaking vacation destination with plenty of wine to enjoy, look no further. This world-famous wine region is home to some of the best Cabernets in the world. But Napa Valley represents more than just fine wine. Again, the region is also known for its stunning scenery, with rolling hills, valleys, and vineyards as far as the eye can see.  There are plenty of great restaurants and hotels in Napa Valley as well, so you'll never be short on things to do. The wine region of the Sonoma Valley is known for its Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, but there are plenty of other great wines to be found here as well. In addition to the vineyards, the Sonoma Valley is also home to some of the best olives in the state. I would say that Mendocino County is a bit of a hidden gem when it comes to California wine regions. If you want to explore this area, you’ll be well-pleased with the wine selections and varieties. Much of the region’s fame is credited to the wines produced in the Anderson Valley.  The cooler-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir flourish in this area as do Alsatian white wines like Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer. You’ll also find some outstanding sparkling wines in this popular wine area. Of course, one of the best things to do in California's wine regions is to visit the vineyards. Many of these vineyards offer tours and tastings, so you can learn about the wine-making process while sampling some of the area's award-winning wine selections. Because the wineries offer tours, tastings, and often have restaurants on-site, you can spend a day or two visiting one facility. In addition to the vineyards and wineries, California's wine regions offer plenty of other attractions.
