While plenty of people consider vacations to nearby Spain or England, they overlook Portugal, which is really a shame. That is why I love to redirect people’s thoughts sometimes when it comes to vacation planning. Portugal is one place you don’t want to leave off of your life’s travel itinerary.Visiting Portugal is a journey into a land rich in culture and history. More than 800 kilometers (about 500 miles) of attractive Atlantic Ocean shoreline adorn the nation. The city of Lisbon is located at the mouth of the Tagus River, making it one of the most beautiful places in the world. In the 15th and 16th centuries, Portuguese explorers embarked on epic journeys of discovery, and the country's maritime history has flourished ever since. The core of Portugal is a mix of impressive mountain ranges in the north and huge, sun-drenched plains in the center. Stunning coves and shallow seas line some of Europe's top beaches in the south. Stone-built villages, charming towns, and cosmopolitan cities are scattered across the region, where ancient palaces and castles, museums, and monasteries are ready to welcome visitors. While in Portugal, you also want to visit Madeira, known as the Garden Isle and the Azores archipelago, known forits subtropical and lush green landscape. As your travel advisor to Portugal, I also want to call your attention to a place, such as Sintra, a charming town that sits inside the hills of Serra de Sintra. The magical town conveys its charms with pine-covered hills and fairy-tale palaces, glorious villas and the remains of a Moorish castle. Sintra's idyllic setting, atop a wooded mountain range is enough of a reason to pay a visit to this quaint town and its settings. For this reason, central Sintra has been designated a World Heritage cultural landscape by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).Romantic Sintra has long been a favored summer vacation spot for the Portuguese royal family anx a popular getaway for poets and authors, including William Beckford and Lord Byron. Many of the homes in the old town are painted in the quaint and welcoming pastels of mustard, pink, and lilac. The National Palace of Sintra dominates the plaza. WIth its distinctive conical chimneys, the elegant building leaves an impression you soon won’t forget. Spanning several stories, the palace contains distinctive and memorable decors. One of the must-see areas of the palace is Sala dos Brasoes, a domed hall adorned with 72 coats of arms of Portuguese families. Are you ready to plan a trip to Portugal? Austria Travel Agent Professional Austria is one of those places that mesmerize you and charm you at the same time. You cannot help but fall in love with a place that features snowy mountains, the music of Mozart, and dark chocolate. Of course, you cannot forget the Vienna Boys’s Choir, the movie, the Sound of Music, or the country’s quaint Alpine villages. That is why I am always excited to book travel to this central European destination. Anytime is a good time to visit Austria.Austria is a country that welcomes everyone. For every St. Anton skier, you will find a snowboarder enjoying the snowy trails in Schladming. The former mining town is now a favorite tour spot and attraction. If you love Strauss, you will love Vienna and its concerts. Savor the moments spent at the kaffeehaus or find solace during the times you hike or relax in Austria’s countryside. With an area of 83,855 square kilometers (about 52,105 miles), Austria is nearly the same size as Scotland or Idaho. The alps cover 62% of the land, with 39% being wooded, 23% being grazing areas, and 17% being arable. The German border is the country's longest common boundary of Austria’s neighbors. The highest point is the Grossglockner mountain (3.798 feet), while the lowest is Neusiedlersee Lake (115m). The Danube and the Inn are the two main rivers in the region. There are 8.2 million people in Austria, with 1.6 million (or 20 percent) living in Vienna. About 78 percent of the population is Roman Catholic and 5 percent is Protestant. Burgenland, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Upper Austria, Vienna, and the Vorarlberg comprise Austria's nine Länder (states). For all of its love of grandeur and bittersweet memories - when Vienna was the capital of a great, multinational empire, the country still appreciates today’s trends and modernity. You're sure to hear the phrase, “Gemütlichkeit,” a term that describes a combination of casual coziness and friendliness, during your vacation, regardless of whether you stay in a popular skiing, hiking, or spa resort or at a remote German-styled inn, known as a Gasthof.Austria, like Switzerland, is a law-abiding country, where people rarely jaywalk or discard trash thoughtlessly and randomly. Austria is a place where the trains and trams arrive on time and the country’s imperial history is nostalgically recalled. THe Hapsburg Empire fell in 1918. Therefore, Austria is a country that fascinates history buffs as well as anyone who loves European art and culture.Visiting Austria simply is not complete without staying a while in Vienna. Cultural attractions range from the massive art collections of the Kunsthistorisches Museum to the brand new MuseumsQuarter, all of which can be found in Vienna's historic palace districts of Hofburg and Schönbrunn. Freud, Klimt, Schiele and Schönberg were just a few of the famous names that visited Vienna's cafes during the end of the 19th century - a time when the city was in the midst of its most golden period historically. The city features a plethora of Jugendstil and early modernist structures, as well as tuxedo-clad waiters serving in the city's many fine-dining cafes. Last but not least, Vienna represents one of the best nightlife destinations in the country, and features everything from world-class opera to electronica. I also suggest, as your travel agent advisor, a trip to Salzburg. Intoxicating is an understatement when it comes to the city. Baroque architecture can be seen in abundance in the center of Old Town, or the city's Altstadt, as well as in the Hohensalzburg stronghold, which is one of the country's outstanding medieval castles. Because it is the birthplace of Mozart and the location of the world-renowned Salzburg Festival, Salzburg has a long and distinguished musical history.Innsbruck is one of Austria's most vibrant regional capitals, with a welcoming nightlife and easy access to public transportation. Not only do the trains run on time, but even more impressively, buses adhere to a regular schedule. Assume that you go to a bus stop, check the schedule, and the bus comes at the exact time - a pipedream for most people who take public transportation throughout the world. Another place to visit is the city of Graz. The provincial capital of Styria is home to Hauptplatz, the medieval old town square. The pedestrian-friendly center displays Baroque and Renaissance buildings that feature shops and fine dining. You can also take a funicular up Schlossberg hill, to an old clock tower. Graz, which is Austria’s second-largest city, is a good hub for anyone who wishes to visit the nearby pumpkin fields and vineyards.Let me be your travel agent professional for your holiday to Austria. I wanted to surprise my wife with a quick trip for our 6 years wedding anniversary. I'm forever grateful for a memorable weekend and wouldn't change a thing about it. We Visited Buenos Aires for 2 nights, enjoyed their parrilladas and local wine, just one word for it "exquisite". We flew to Iguassu Falls and spent 2 nights there. The morning view was amazing! We stayed at the Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas in Brazil's side and were able to hear the sound of the waterfalls while falling asleep. Next morning we went on a boat ride under the falls, it was extreme and we loved it! Thank you Miriam for sharing your knowledge and arranging everything for us, it was a perfect quick celebration with so much quality in such short stay.
