MSC Divina at Anchor

Tropical Sails Corp has had the pleasure of sailing with MSC in the Yacht Club twice now, along with four other cruises in a balcony cabin. (Check the photo album on this site.)

The MSC Yacht club offers exceptional value for a luxury experience. We were greeted in a special Yacht Club area outside the cruise terminal. We checked in our luggage and were escorted by a butler to expedited check in.  While we were waiting we were offered champagne, juice, an assortment of cookies and snacks. The butler took us two at a time for expedited check-in.

We were then promptly escorted onto the ship. We scanned our new MSC Cruise card and were escorted to the private Yacht Club dining room for lunch. We had a sit down lunch with five specials and the every day items such as well prepared hamburgers, pasta and a vegetarian option. We could order cocktails, sodas, juice, beer or water to drink.

Following lunch our suite was ready. It is about four feet wider than a regular balcony with a walk in shower (no bath tub to hop over) and a closet area. Our mini-bar was stocked and we could drink whatever we want. We were offered a full bottle of any brand name liquor we wanted, we passed as we were not checking bags on the airplane and therefore could not take the remainer home with us.

Dinners were spectacular. A definite upgrade from the standard menu, which is very good by the way in my opinion. We met a nice couple during the check-in process and elected to have dinner with them.  Prior to dinner I, of course, consumed an old-fashioned from the lounge which was delightfully quiet with a piano player.

In the morning we hopped up to the private pool deck for buffer breakfast, except you could order eggs, omelette's etc to order.

The yacht club is a private area in the bow of the ship. There are approximately 100 cabins cordoned off from the rest of the ship. The top pool deck had tinted glass pergolas spread though-out the area. The pool was not ice cold as you will find on many cruise ships.  The bar service was splendid. We made best friends with Irish and she took care of us all week.

The meals were fantastic. On lobster night, we all ordered a second lobster. On Italian night we ordered Chicken parmesan special as it was off the menu.

We went to shows six of seven nights. They were much better than what we have seen on other lines. They do things the Italian way and make us all feel as family. We only went off the ship to get batteries for my camera and to the private island.

The MSC Yacht club private island has its' own restaurant ashore. I had a lobster roll for lunch. The yacht club beach is a pebble beach with some larger rocks too. O neglected to bring my water shoes, so we walked to the sandy beach across the golf cart path.  In the evening we watched the lighthouse show.

Our butler and staff made a big deal for our anniversary. We appreciated it very much.

All in all, it was a great value for the money.  The yacht club prices out at about half of what top line luxury cruises run. We just wanted to relax. We did not have to fight crowds or deal with noise. We were treated like royalty.

We did not use the spa. Yacht club members have some benefits there. We neglected to fill out a form for a daily newspaper. The wi-fi worked well and it was included in our fare.

I need some MSC.
