Sardinia

Here are five things to see and visit in Sardinia:

1. Costa Smeralda: This glamorous stretch of coastline in northeastern Sardinia is famous for its turquoise waters, upscale resorts, and beautiful beaches, such as Capriccioli and Liscia Ruja.

2. Nuraghe Sites: Explore the ancient Nuragic civilization by visiting nuraghe sites like Su Nuraxi di Barumini. These stone structures, dating back over 3,000 years, are unique to Sardinia.

3. Grotta di Nettuno (Neptune's Grotto): Located on the stunning Capo Caccia cliffs, this sea cave offers a mesmerizing underground adventure with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

4. Cagliari: The capital city is a vibrant mix of history and modernity. Don't miss the historic district of Castello, Cagliari Cathedral, and the bustling Marina district.5. La Maddalena Archipelago: Take a boat trip to this breathtaking group of islands, known for their unspoiled nature, hidden coves, and stunning beaches, like Spiaggia Rosa on Budelli Island.

Hiking and cycling paradise

Sardinia harbors some of Europe’ sunniest sands, but its wild interior affords some of Italy’ most-scenic hiking and cycling routes, Rugged mountain terrain stowing away nuragic villages and Ozieri cave tombs.

In Cagliari I had the pleasure of exploring the historic district known as Castello. As I walked through its narrow cobblestone streets, I couldn't help but admire the well-preserved medieval architecture and the stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea from the city walls. One of the most memorable moments was visiting the Cagliari Cathedral, where I marveled at its intricate architecture and the peaceful atmosphere inside. The Poetto Beach with its crystal-clear waters amazed me. The blend of history and natural beauty in Cagliari left me with a deep appreciation for the city and the island of Sardinia as a whole.
