I'm delighted to share my story with you, especially if you're ready to embark on an enchanting journey through the captivating landscapes of New Zealand....

Perth

Day 1:Perth, A good day deserves a good breakfast so bacon toast and grilled tomatoes it was. Then we set off to tour the city sights. We visited the Swan River and all its best monuments where Kim and I had a little fun. We even got all the ladies to join us for a game of hopscotch. Next we went to Kings Park where we walked the memorials, Botanical Gardens and the Scenic Glass Bridge. After that we visited a new and upcoming part of town called Elizabeth Quays. Then we had the afternoon free. We choose to walk Hay Street Mall and have some lunch. Here we found cookies with pictures of the Queen on them and a few headbands that needed our attention. We are not sure if this is the new trend or possibly they are getting ready for Melbourne Cup but the hats were fun addition to our day. This evening we all went to a beautiful dinner at a restaurant called Post which was in the state building. It was fun to get to know a few of the ladies who we are traveling with. Kim and I finished the evening contributing $40.00 to the Crown Casino complex. Tomorrow we move to a new place with new Adventures.

Day 2: Margaret River,  We left Perth today for Margaret River. About an hour in to the drive we arrived at Penguin Island Conservation Park. Here we got to watch rescue penguins being fed and then we took a boat ride in search of sea lions and pelicans but we were lucky enough to see two different groups of dolphins. We then drove a few more hours to arrive at Busselton Jetty. The longest jetty in the Southern Hemisphere. It was a beautiful sunny day and the ocean breeze was perfect. Next we arrived at our new accommodation the Pullman Bunker Bay where we had dinner. We tried to get Kim to try Emu but that didn’t go so well. Big day tomorrow so headed to bed for a good night sleep.

Day 3: Full day in the Margaret River Region of Western Australia. We started the morning at Cape Naturaliste where we took in amazing views of the Indian Ocean and the Cape Leewin lighthouse. This is very sacred grounds to the Aboriginal People. We had an opportunity to experience some of the culture with a local gentleman named Josh who shared stories about his family and the region. He also played the didgeridoo for us and let some of the girls play sticks along side him. We then stopped in a town called Cowaramup where we visited a few shops. Then it was time to hit the Chocolate factory. Yum. We then drove about 30 minutes through some beautiful scenery to arrive at Hay Shed Hill’s winery. We spent 3 hours there having a degustation lunch. On our way back we stopped in the town of Margaret River at a beautiful lookout point called Sugarloaf Rock where we spotted a few whales showing off for us. Kim and I tried to fit in a quick dip in the pool at sunset but the water was just a bit to chilly. Another big day tomorrow so it’s off to bed we go.

Day 4: We departed the lovely city of Margaret River on our wonderful AAT Kings coach to Fremantle where we said good bye to our Amazing driver Gary. We boarded a ferry for a 30 minute ride to Rottnest Island. Home of the Quokka. When we landed we did a brief walk around the Island before checking into Pinky’s Eco Resort for a night of Glamping. Kim and I took a walk to the beach and put our feet in the Indian Ocean. The sand is so pure and soft and the water is so clean and colorful. Tonight we had a wonderful dinner and our getting a early night sleep before another big day tomorrow.

Day 5: Today we toured Rottnest Island by bus, bike and plane. We saw the most beautiful peacock who put on a show for us and then we saw a Quokka with a baby Joey in its pouch. There were so many beautiful lookout points along our two hour bus ride around the island including the West Point where waves were crashing into the rocks. The water is every shade of blue imaginable. Then we grabbed a pie from the bakery. Since one of the main things to do on Rottnest Island is a bike ride we had to fit a quick one in to visit a few of the salt lakes on the Island. The island also offers scenic flights and I could not pass that up. The view from the air was so stunning and it was awesome to see the entire island at once. We all took the 4:30pm ferry back to the mainland (Freemantle) and checked in to our new hotel before a beautiful dinner at Bread and More. I had the most delicious Kangaroo Skewers tonight along with roasted potatoes, lamb and chocolate mint dessert. Tonight was our farewell dinner since tomorrow morning will be our last day of our bus tour. It has been an extraordinary bus tour. The people, the guide, the destination has reminded me why I love this place.
