Cape Cod is a magical place on the Northeast Coast of the U.S, which is not only a romantic, but also historic destination. Inviting all to visit during the spring and summer; Whether you’re seeking some R&R, adventure, or a romantic getaway. Cape Cod represents a hook-shaped peninsula, a stretch of sand that extends 65 miles into the Atlantic Ocean and is between 10 to 20 miles wide. It is bounded by Cape Cod Bay, Buzzards Bay, and Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket Islands. One of the main attractions of Cape Cod is the Cape Cod National Seashore, whose numerous beaches offer activities for all abilities and ages; including over 40 miles of pristine beaches. Cape Cod National Seashore is also home to several historic sites and museums. I can’t boast enough about this wonderful escape. It is a gorgeous area of natural beauty, the perfect spot for a relaxing beach day or a hike through the dunes in quieter times. Lets begin with The Cape Cod Canal: This busy waterway is the perfect place to go for a walk, bike ride, or to sit and relax. The Canal is a popular spot for fishing, home to a herring run, and rail bridge that lifts to let trains cross over. the Visitors Center has toilets, information and literature. Sandwich is the first town after crossing the sagamore the bridge and the canal. This historic town is Cape Cod’s oldest and is home to a number of interesting museums and sites, including the Sandwich Glass Museum. The Sandwich bulkhead on the canal and The Sandwich Boardwalk are also very popular, and the location of the Shawme crowell state forest for camping. Falmouth is a popular summer resort town with a number of great beaches, restaurants, and shops. Ferries also depart from it's harbor to both martha’s vineyard and Nantucket. Falmouth is also home to the wacqouit bay estuary reserve. It’s home to a variety of events and festivals throughout the year as well. Hyannis boasts of malls, shopping, the harbor, with hyannisport home of the Kennedys. Need to let the kids unwind, route 28 is packed with activities, food both sit down & road stands and stores for all your needs. Chatham is a beautiful coastal town with a number of scenic beaches and hiking trails and home to the monomoy national Wildlife Refuge. You can hike as much of the 15 mile trek of the entire Monomoy island as you like during low tide to the lighthouse if you like. Fishing, whale watching, bird watching activities and Seals resting in front of the lighthouse are other sights of nature on Monomoy. Cape Cod Rail Trail - This 22-mile paved trail is perfect for biking, hiking, or just taking a leisurely stroll. It runs through some of the most scenic parts of Cape Cod, and there are plenty of places to stop along the way to enjoy the views. Cape Cod Melody Tent - This open-air amphitheater is a spectacular place to go to see live music and theater. The Tent hosts a variety of performances throughout the summer, and to enjoy a show under the stars. Wellfleet harbor is very scenic harbor with a restaurant, fish market, deli and restaurants. It is also the location of Great Island, a national wildlife refuge; an incredibly beautiful piece of land jutting out about 6 miles into the ocean. Used for swimming, boating, hiking, and rafting.
