Russia, a country renowned for its sheer size, diverse landscapes, rich history, and unique culture. My trip through the world's largest nation promised an exploration of iconic landmarks, picturesque scenery, and encounters with the warmth and hospitality of the Russian people. Join me as I recount the highlights of my unforgettable adventure across this vast expanse.Chapter 1: Arrival in Moscow - The Enigmatic Capital My adventure began in Moscow, Russia's vibrant and historic capital. The imposing Red Square welcomed me with iconic landmarks like St. Basil's Cathedral and the Kremlin. I marveled at the artistry of the Bolshoi Theatre, explored the treasures of the State Historical Museum, and ventured underground to navigate Moscow's impressive metro system, a showcase of Soviet-era architecture.Chapter 2: St. Petersburg - Imperial Elegance A train ride to St. Petersburg revealed a city characterized by imperial elegance. The State Hermitage Museum, housed in the opulent Winter Palace, beckoned with its priceless art collection. I explored the grandeur of the Peterhof Palace and savored traditional Russian tea in a charming tearoom along Nevsky Prospekt.Chapter 3: Trans-Siberian Railway - The Legendary Journey The next leg of my journey took me to the legendary Trans-Siberian Railway, an epic train ride across Russia. I traversed Siberian landscapes, encountering quaint villages, vast taiga forests, and the stunning shores of Lake Baikal, the deepest freshwater lake in the world.Chapter 4: Irkutsk and Lake Baikal - Natural Wonders Irkutsk, the "Paris of Siberia," served as my gateway to the pristine beauty of Lake Baikal. I hiked along its rugged shoreline, swam in its crystal-clear waters, and indulged in local dishes like omul fish. Visiting nearby Olkhon Island allowed me to witness the Shaman Rock and experience the spiritual aura of the region.Chapter 5: Yekaterinburg - Historical Crossroads Yekaterinburg, where the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas II, was executed, offered a glimpse into the country's turbulent history. The Church on the Blood, built on the site of the Romanovs' execution, was a poignant reminder of Russia's past.Chapter 6: Kazan - A Cultural Melting Pot Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, introduced me to Russia's cultural diversity. I explored the Kazan Kremlin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experienced the unique blend of Russian and Tatar cultures, reflected in the city's architecture, cuisine, and language.Chapter 7: Siberian Cities - Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk My journey continued through Siberian cities like Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk, where I explored local museums, sampled Siberian dishes, and engaged with the friendly residents, gaining insight into life in Russia's vast interior.Chapter 8: Vladivostok - The Eastern Frontier My adventure reached its easternmost point in Vladivostok, a port city overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I explored the Vladivostok Fortress, savored seafood delicacies at the local markets, and took in panoramic views from the Russky Bridge. Conclusion: Russia's Endless Fascination My journey through Russia was a testament to the country's vastness, diversity, and enduring allure. Lindsay is so great at this! She is knowledgeable, efficient, and quick. She helped us find a great price on a lovely seaside cabin for my nephew's Marine graduation. She'll help you find the vacation you are looking for!

Put our minds at ease
I highly recommend Lindsey Shell as a travel agent. She has planned trips for YWAM to countries such as Togo, Africa, and South Korea and other places. Recently, she planned a trip for six people to Cartagena, Colombia, arranging hotels, parking for the vehicle, and one week's stay at an Air B&B. She is able to find flight tickets with ease, and last week, after several frustrating tries for tickets to India, she worked her magic and got those same tickets in minutes!
