The Great Pyramids of Giza are perhaps the most iconic travel attraction in Egypt and must-see for any visitor. These ancient tombs are some of the most recognizable landmarks in the world and are truly awe-inspiring. These are some of the best examples of ancient Egyptian culture.

The Valley of the Kings in Luxor is another popular destination for visitors. It is home to the tombs of pharaohs and other ancient kings. I also like to recommend Egyptian foods. You’re in for a true culinary treat and escape when dining in Egypt. For example, Ful Wa Ta’ameya is a street cuisine that has been enjoyed for hundreds of years. The dish is made of Ful, or mashed fava beans cooked with various spices, and Ta'amiya, which are falafel-type patties that are made from found fava beans, spices, and herbs. The beans are usually served inside a warmed pita bread, accompanied by toppings like cucumbers, tahini sauce, and tomatoes. It’s not only an affordable food, it’s also healthful.

You’ll also want to try Egypt’s version of pizza. It’s really delicious - super buttery, filled with calories, but still worth eating. Also called fiteer, the dish is made of layer upon layer of filo pastry cooked in a brick oven. While you can eat the original “pie” served plain, you can also add savory toppings like veggies, meat, and cheese. For anyone with a sweet tooth, fiteer can be ordered with honey or syrup.
