Besides the northern lights and fjords, Norway offers a delectable selection of mouth-watering foods - foods that you probably have not tried before. Because Norweigans love adventure, food is no exception. For example, every residential Norwegian forages, and you can do the same as well on your Norway holiday. That is why I often suggest that travelers visiting Norway go on a foraging tour in August or September. That is when the hedgerows are in full bloom and prized porcini mushrooms can be easily found.  However, never pick mushrooms without a guide to help. That is why a foraging tour is a must-do activity. You can also pick dew-sparkling amber berries, cloudberries, and lingonberries in places  such as Hardangervidda and Rondane. Also, Husmanskost is a hearty and inviting lunch you will love - open sandwiches that feature sourdough or rye bread, topped with charcuterie, veggies, or seafood. You can savor the cuisine in places, such as the Havariet Bistro in Oslofjord.  Classic dinner dishes include unique and succulent foods, such as elk meatballs and reindeer stew, also called finnbiff. Enjoy these evening staples in places, such as the Elgustua Guesthouse in East Norway. When you eat that type of delicious food, you will need to find ways to work off the calories, and Norway has plenty of activities in which you can take part. One of the popular activities of the country, naturally, is skiing.  The word, "ski," itself comes from the Old Norse language. Many Norweigans assert that they had skis on their feet when they were born. Therefore, if you want to ski, you will find Norway to be a skiers paradise. You can hit the powder in winter or ski down a glacier during the summer. Thingvellir National Park- 

Thingvellir National Park is one of the oldest attractions in Iceland and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located between two tectonic plates, the park is a great place to learn about the geological history of Iceland. You’ll also be able to witness the ongoing geological transformation of the park.  Once you’ve finished with your Geology 101 course, you can explore the park’s cultural history. Thingvellir Park is the site of the first Icelandic legislative assembly. Therefore,  you can learn about the history of Icelandic politics and the role Iceland played in the world’s political history.

Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most famous tourist attractions and has been operating for decades. It’s a great place to relax and soak in the natural beauty of Iceland. The water in the Blue Lagoon is actually the water that has been used to generate electricity at nearby geothermal power plants. It’s all recycled water, so you don’t have to worry about it being dirty.  In fact, the water in the Blue Lagoon is very alkaline and enriched with minerals that are great for your skin. The water also has a very high level of sulfur, which is great for your hair. While the water may seem slightly murky, its natural additives create that effect. It is actually very clear.

Iceland’s Golden Circle

The Golden Circle is made up of three of Iceland’s most famous attractions. The first is the already-mentioned Thingvellir National Park. Next is the Gullfoss Waterfall, which is one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. The third is the Geysir Geothermal Area. The Geysir Geothermal Area is home to the Strokkur Geyser that erupts every few minutes and produces a large plume of water. The Golden Circle is easily accessible from the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. It’s just a short drive to see these three amazing attractions.The Great Geysers and Strokkur The Great Geysers and Strokkur are two of the most famous attractions on the Golden Circle. These are actually several geothermal areas where you can see the remains of geothermal activity and learn more about Iceland’s rich geothermal history. At the Gullfoss Waterfall, you’ll observe a spectacular cascade created by the flow of water through a canyon. The Golden Circle is the perfect way to see the best of Iceland’s natural attractions.Icelandic Horses: Horse Jumping and Horse Riding One of the most iconic images of Iceland are the beautiful Icelandic Horses. These horses are a Viking breed that have been roaming the Icelandic countryside for centuries. You can see these horses all over the country, and many of them even live on farms.  Many Icelandic Horse farms offer horse jumping tours, where you can see these amazing animals jump over obstacles like a horse would in a show ring. There are also many Icelandic Horse farms that offer horseback riding tours. This is a great way to see the beautiful countryside of Iceland in a unique way.

Seeing the Northern Lights in Iceland

Iceland has excellent conditions for viewing the Northern Lights. In fact, it’s one of the best places in the world to see them. During certain times of the year, they’re almost guaranteed to appear.. If you want to see them, I suggest you take a tour that will direct you to an area that has a level of light pollution. Seeing the Northern Lights is a truly unforgettable experience.

Reykjavik at Night

Reykjavik is a great city to visit during the day, but it’s even more beautiful at night. There are lots of great things to do in Reykjavik after dark. One of the best ways to enjoy Iceland after dark is to visit the Blue Lagoon, which is open 24 hours a day. The rest of the city is also illuminated by lights, so you can visit the Hallgrímskirkja Church, or you can go for a walk and look at some of the beautiful architecture the city offers visitors and residents. You don’t want to miss visiting Iceland’s key attractions.
