The Strict Sabbath Observance, called Shabbat, starts at sunset on Friday and concludes at sunset on Saturday. The Sabbath, for those who observe it, means a day of rest, when no one drives, cooks, or does any kind of work, including switching on and off lights or electronics. The religious who practice Shabbat do not even press an elevator button. In hotels, electronically programmed elevators automatically move up and down and stop at floors.  Also, most shops are closed during the Sabbath. However, beaches are open, as well as clubs, nonkosher restaurants, and places of entertainment. Naturally, no trip to Israel is complete without seeing the top attractions in Jerusalem. For example, Temple Mount, a walled compound in the Old City of Jerusalem is the holiest site in Judaism and is the previous site of the First Temple.  It is also the third most important location for Muslims, ranking only behind Mecca and Medina in importance. In the Arabic language, Temple Mount is known as the Noble Sanctuary, being the place where Muhammad ascended into the heavens. The stunning complex includes prayer areas, majestic arches and lovely mosaics on the walls.
