Tahiti

Tahiti is the main island of French Polynesia. Scuba diving and snorkeling around Punaauia and Papeete, turquoise waters, overwater bungalows. The more popular islands are Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora. Start your journey in Papeete with a handful of 5-star resorts one of them being the Four Seasons Bora Bora, and St. Regis which offer overwater bungalows and beachfront villas with plunge pools. Some attractions to see are the Black sand beach, Papeete Market, segway tours, tahiti wrecks for snorkeling, and Black Pearl Museum.

French Polynesia is a tropical paradise known for its overwater bungalows, turquoise lagoons, and vibrant coral reefs. Here are some travel tips for your trip to this idyllic destination:

Choose the Right Islands:French Polynesia consists of multiple islands, including Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea, and others. Research and select islands based on your interests, whether it's relaxation, adventure, or cultural experiences.

Best Time to Visit:The dry season (May to October) is considered the best time to visit, with pleasant temperatures and less rainfall. However, this is also the high tourist season, so book accommodations and activities in advance.

Currency:The official currency is the French Pacific Franc (XPF). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it's advisable to carry some local currency for small purchases.

Language:French and Tahitian are the official languages. English is spoken in tourist areas, but learning a few basic French phrases can enhance your experience.

Local Etiquette:Politeness is highly valued. Greet locals with a friendly "Ia ora na" (hello). Remove your shoes when entering someone's home and be respectful of local customs and traditions.

Water Activities:French Polynesia is a haven for water activities. Snorkeling, diving, and paddleboarding are popular. Bring your own snorkeling gear for more flexibility.

Cuisine:Try local specialties like poisson cru (raw fish marinated in coconut milk) and enjoy meals at local food trucks, known as "roulottes." Seafood is abundant and delicious.

Transportation:Inter-island flights or ferries are common modes of transportation. Consider getting a pass for inter-island flights if you plan to visit multiple islands.Pack Accordingly:Pack lightweight, breathable clothing, swimwear, and reef-safe sunscreen. A good pair of water shoes is handy for navigating coral beaches.

Respect Marine Life:Be mindful of the delicate marine ecosystem. Use reef-safe sunscreen, don't touch coral, and adhere to responsible snorkeling and diving practices.

Connect with Locals:Engage with locals to truly experience the Polynesian culture. Attend local events, learn about traditional crafts, and enjoy the warm hospitality.

French Polynesia offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, and with a bit of preparation, you can make the most of your tropical getaway. Bon voyage!

We were traveling to Europe and incorporated a few days in Iceland on the way and had a wonderful time, great for the kids to see the puffins, the horses, and the lagoon.
